kitschwitch
So! June II came home today and after some quiet time in the kitchen to replenish on pellets (prefers to header them out the cup and eat off the floor ) and a dose of louse powder she was put in the dog crate and put on the patio. The minute she came into sight, Pamela ran straight to the front of the run and did that low bok that pullets do, so we let P out and she ran straight over to the crate and followed June II as she stamped around the crate - it was a mirror image!! June was desperate to get out and Pamela was desperate to get in! We had lunch outside with them and June started sticking her neck through the bars trying to escape (her first home was much more free-range and no weldmesh) the dog crate has bigger bar space - so we were worried about going to the supermarket and leaving her throwing herself against the sides. 1 hour till we have to leave - big decision.....we let June II out!! armed with water bottles and a broom! She jumped straight over the lip of the crate and went to join Pamela on the other side, 1 hr free-ranging together, they explored the garden together, went further than June 1st ever did and Pamela followed everywhere, they also dared down the middle of the 2 runs eyeballing the big girls. Pamela went back in the run around 4 and started the low bok again and June II followed, we shut the door and waited, they ate together, sat together and had a good preen. One mad dash round Waitrose later and straight back out to find June eating crumbs off of Pamela beak.... and then off to bed they went. We took a huge chance today but what a flippin miracle and such a happy ending...I know it's not over yet and we will keep a very close eye over the weekend (feel a very early morning coming up) but my heart is happy and will try and get some photos over the weekend P.S. OH says Orp pullets are the way forward - how big is that WIR going to be Edited October 22, 2010 by Guest

Apart from few pecs and chasing all seems good. Working on oh for more, but more means a cube( as got go at the mo) and ££££££££££££££££££'s. Daphne
I'm glad your choice worked out so well - its great when a plan comes together, there's nothing nicer than watching a free range toddle of happy hens! PS IMO your OH is quite right - orps, pullet shaped or otherwise, are the way to go
