Charlottechicken
Hi StephenW, how old are your birds and what breeds are they? My bantam is the last to stop laying for winter, and is the only one laying now, my LF girls stopped a week ago
StephenW
I have a blue laced wyandotte but I have never saw her lay. Also I have a pekin cross, black roch, light sussex and buff sussex. Steve
Egluntyne
You could try worming her and cutting down on treats, but the most likely cause is the shortening days.
StephenW
I have removed treats for 3 weeks because I thought that might the problem and they were wormed at around the start of the summer. So hopefully they will lay soon. Its probably cold wether also. Thanks
Patricia W
My bantams " rest" between end of October and about 14th Feb - an effect of the day length I decided.

C&T
We worm our every 3 months with flubenvet (must do again soon I think). Beginning of summer is a while ago - would be tempted to re-do them if you are concerned about them at all?
Angie
My little Banties are 18/19 wks old now..have been wormed and are very healthy . Will my girls Lay at all ??? or none till after the Winter ???? I was led to believe they would lay later then LF at around 22 wks which is about end of Nov. ( i have had them since they were 8wks old and loving every minute with them.) But an egg or two before March would be nice.
StephenW
I dont think worming is vital for me as for me as I have them just in run. I took treats of them so its probably just the cold weather. Thanks again everyone
The Dogmother
My bantams " rest" between end of October and about 14th Feb - an effect of the day length I decided. Mine too, you'll be lucky to get any eggs out of pure breeds fro October to January.
Jools
Yes, if they're in their second year (or older), then they're having their well earned winter break from laying and won't start again until next Feb/Mar. If you get the timing of hatch right, pure breeds (banty or LF) can lay their socks off through their first winter - which I view as a particularly valid reason for hatching every May every year! The Dogmother
If they are hatched in May or before, then yes, you ought to.
Jools
The story goes that if they hatch before the longest day, they lay before the shortest day, so I always time my hatchings to between mid-May - mid-June and it hasn't let me down yet.
