jill the potter
Was cleaning out the WIR today so allowed the girls to have free range of all the garden as all the veg is now finished. The new girls were a bit unsure so didn't actually stray very far from a large patch of soil where the potatoes had been. As you can see poor Tikka is recovering from a heavy moult (OH said it was cruel to take a picture of her looking like that, and he's the one who claims he's not that bothered about the chicks!!!). Barbara Barbara looking very grown up! Tikka just in shot looking a bit bedraggled - Margot at the back - camera shy Close up of Tikka (new feathers coming on face) and a lovely shot of Barbara's bum!!!! Whoops dont know why they are so big - reduced them on photobucket - the first one should have Margot in shot. Been back on photobucket and it says they have been reduced, so don't understand where I am going wrong

jill the potter
Thanks to whoever reduced the photos - some a bit small now might try again. The dark one, Tikka, is a Black Rock. Margot - the white one is a Light Sussex and Barbara is a Cream Legbar cross (don't know what with though) known as a 'Sandy'

Egluntyne
Thanks to whoever reduced the photos - some a bit small now might try again. I've had a look at the moderator logs, and no one has altered the size of these pictures, so it must be photobucket playing up. I'd try uploading them again if I were you. Ideally no larger than 600 px.

Chortle Chook
Barbara is an absolute stunner! Poor Tikka looks like a lady caught by the postman in her showercap and dressing gown but I bet she too will be a stunner once she is back in her glad rags. Snoxy
I saw a very pretty hen on Saturday...she was a Welsummer cross...but Ben didn't know what she was crossed with...was very tempted...but then plumbed for RIR (Maggie) instead and I have no regrets she is stunning Barbara is so pretty

LizzieLloyd
We've got two Light Sussex bantams and they are lovely birds - great layers too
chocolatedog
Could Barbara be a Buff Sussex? She certainly looks a bit like it anyway........ Tikka looks a bit like my Ginger at the moment - heavy moulting and gradually growing in her new glad rags......she looks so much smaller than normal! Just shows how thick and fluffy a hen's plumage is usually.......
