stripeybunny
On Saturday morning when I let my girls out they were all fine but by mid morning I noticed that Crumble kept standing still in the garden with her eyes closed while the others were happily scratching around. I picked her up and she opend her eyes but seemed very subdued and didn't flap or make any noise. She was doing lots of very liquidy white poos aswell. Throughout the day she got worse and I ended up bringing her inside and gave her a box in the kitchen to sleep in. She managed some water and a bit of porridge but still would hardly open her eyes even when I picked her up. I put her to bed in the coop in the evening with the others. Last night I was really worried about her and had pretty much accepted that she probably wouldn't survive the night. This morning I opened the coop and she was the first out, right as rain, scratching about with the others. She is doing normal poos again now and seems to have completely recovered. gongladosh
It might well be that she simply had a *really* bad night's sleep the night before. I once had that with a hen - she fell asleep purring on my lap and 45 minutes later when ,I wanted to put her back she refused to put her legs down... She pretty much fell over on the way back to the eglu. The next day she was as right as rain.
sandyhas3chucks
I don't think hens have "a bad night", unless something like an egg not passed /softee on way keeps them awake, they usually perk up when it is passed, a sleepy hen indicates "somethimg" is not right!
