Espresso machine recommendations

Recommended Posts

I have a fabulous red Delonghi espresso/cappucino machine and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. I thought I'd just use it when people came but I use it all the time, never have coffee any other way. I paid around £120 for it from Comet (list price is £149.99). Makro has them on a Makro mail offer at the moment for £79.99 which is amazingly cheap) in black or red.

I have a Gaggia and love it, but also liked my old stove-top thingy (like a small double kettle) which forced steam through the ground coffee. A friend has one with pods which makes great coffee, but I always worry that the pods might get hard/expensive to obtain.

I've got a Gaggia. You put coffee beans and filtered water in and it grinds and brews for you, it tells you when it needs emptying/water/beans/descaling and makes steamed frothy milk. Its like a proper proffessional maker but domestic sized- only problem is I cant drink anyone elses coffee now!

I have a basic Gaggia machine which is about 5 years old. I think we paid about £130 for it. I use it most days and way prefer the coffee it makes to anything else. We also have an ultra cheap filter machine for larger quantities. I can't drink instant coffee now. :vom:

In my OH's office they have Tassimo which is a pod machine, very clean and easy to use, the basic coffee is ok.

I've had a Gaggia Classic for around 7 years now, and it's been worth every penny. I'd highly recommend it.

It's only part of the process though: I also have a good burr grinder, and buy my coffee freshly roasted (from hasbean.co.uk - also highly recommended).

I am a self confessed coffee geek.
