Pasta machine recommendations

Recommended Posts

Hubby wants a pasta machine. He's wanted one before but always I've ignored it because (a) I think it'll end up at the back of the cupboard after a couple of uses, (b) dried pasta is very easy to buy and © we don't eat that much pasta, although I suppose we may have to start. However, it's Christmas and I'm feeling generous (and he's a difficult bloke to buy for at the best of times) so I'd be really grateful for any recommendations.

Ideally I'm looking for something that's easy to use and, more importantly, easy to clean (do the bits go in the dishwasher?). What else do I have to buy to go with it (e.g. extra attachments, things to put the pasta in etc)?

All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

We have an Imperia one, it isn't too hard to clean if you leave it to dry then clean it with a brush, apart from four it doesn;'t get that dirty because the dough is not sticky. Making pasta is fun, but time consuming, ideal for the snowy winter, good way to use excess eggs and it tastes lovely, only takes a couple of minutes to cook too.

Bit late now, but we also have an Imperia. Its easy to clean, although I do think making pasta is a bit of a faff - you make it and then have to wait for it to dry off a bit if you want to store it - we always make up enough for more than one meal. NB Don't leave it to dry near cats. Cats appear to think you have provided lots of string for them to play with! Having said that, it does taste good..and as OH does the pasta making who am I to complain

I didn't think of that  Plus we've got a hen living in the house with us at the moment and she'll probably think the worms have come to play...................

I have to agree about the cats. Scamp was eating all the bits that fell off when they were drying and would have had the lot I think. I only ever make it to eat fresh but you still need to hang it up while you make the rest so you need plenty of triangular coat hangers or lots of chair backs to hang it on.
