I have 3 hens (2 RIR and a Maran) who don't go into the house at dark - and the cold hasn't made much difference either! So each night - like a good chicken mommy - out I go looking like Nanook of the North - to put the little tinkers to bed. After sliding the roof away from me so I could see where my 'good' girls were perched, I was in the process of putting 2nd RIR in when the Maran came striding towards me across the roof - and promptly disappeared! It was like now you see me, now you don't! Thankfully my arm saved her from any injury - couldn't help laughing afterwards though, she went just like Norman Wisdom!
