Uggs or Emu Boots

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting some sheepskin boots and can't decide between Uggs or Emu boots?

I know I can get Uggs at the outlet shop at Bicester & QVC do good prices on Emu's(compared to the high st)

I was just wondering if fellow omleteers have these boots (I'm sure you do) and which you would recommend.

Thank you

I bought my daughter UGGs for Christmas and amnt happy at all with them, she has worn them about 5 times since Christmas Day and they have worn away down at the sides - they are going back to the shop - they were £120 and the 'damage' to them after such a short time isnt good. I havent had Emu's so dont know about them. For my feet - i wear Le Chameau Vatnas for dog walking and Le Chameau Jamesons for wearing out and about.

QVC prices aren't good for the Emu boots at all. Amazon or Javari usually have them cheaper.

DD's both have Uggs but I have Bearpaws and Kiwi Sheepskin ones. DD's have also had Bearpaws and when I took them for resoling the cobbler was asking me about them and telling me how much better quality they were than all the Uggs he gets in. TK Max sometimes have Bearpaws in and also Amazon and Javari. Hope that helps altough I know you weren't asking about either of those brands

Thank you for this information. I've been looking at getting something like this but really didn't know which brand to go for apart from UGG, which seem prohibitively expensive  Bearpaws look good and are £32 on Amazon! Much cheaper than Uggs. Is it the UGG style which have been resoled, and if so how long did you wear them before they needed resoling. I assume the cobbler has to stick soles on? Are they true to size?

Questions, questions!

Claire, it is the Ugg style regular soled ones which were redone. The girls only had one winters wear out of them. However, my Bearpaws with the chunky soles are on their third winter and still don't need doing. Think it cost £10 to have them done and yes he did just stick new ones on. Personally I only like sheepskin boots with the chunky soles. Sizing, I would say that Bearpaw are a tiny bit on the small size but it could well depend on the style.

There's been quite a few threads on this topic before, so if you search for ugg or rocketdog or emu you should come up with previous discussions where people have given their opinions.

I have a pair of Ultimate Uggs with chunky soles, which are fabulous and a pair of Bearpaws with chunky soles, equally fab. I recently bought a pair of Kiwi Sheepskin boots from NZ which are the best of all, the thickest sheepskin and fabulous style, longer than the usual styles plus delivery is very quick and they pay all import duties.

I am a fan of the Kiwis with the chunk offroad soles too...they are truly built to last!

I would wear the more often if the daughters didn't keep pinching them

Great service too.....no import duty, and they arrived very quickly.

The sizing was accurate, and they look great. Really cannot fault the boots or the service. :P

Glad you're sorted now.

For future reference (incase you should need another pair :D ) I got my very first pair of Uggs last November and they've hardly been off my feet. I have problem feet but have found them the best pair of boots I've ever owned. I ordered the chestnut Bailey Button Uggs from cloggs.co.uk if anyone is on the look out for uggs, do a google search of "discount online voucher codes" first to get some codes to get some pennies off when checking out.

sorry to ask, but which waterproofing spray would you recommend? Think another pair (Bailey Uggs) maybe added sometime during the year. A girl needs a change of colour and style don't you think

I use a Punch one bought from my local cobblers. It was around the £2 mark.

Slightly late I know but... Is anyone else a fan of Skechers (now owned by Uggs)? My sand ones were £20 in TKMaxx 6 years ago and are still going strong - warm and super grippy on these slippery winter pavements. My other pairs ( ) came from amazon. Sizing is generous though so order a size (or even 1.5) smaller than your shoe size :) Right, off to look at Bearpaw now!

Ive been in to TK Maxx in Brum today and there's a distinct lack of Bearpaws

Managed to try on a pair of US 7, which should be a UK 5, and I am a UK 4 at most. They were a good fit  Now I am torn between the Dream and the Eva in chocolate, and umming and ahhing over leg length. Where do you measure from to find out where the boots will come to, sole of foot ? Have to say the sole on the Eva is more substantial than I thought it would be. I will have to hunt down a stockist of Uggs and try those for comparison!
