My daughter has been using duct tape on a wart on her elbow for about 4 months and ...hasn't worked at all. Bazuka and the wart plasters haven't worked either. She has booked herself onto the GP's rather long 'wart clinic' waiting list. It is therefore guaranteed to go a week before the appointment finally comes through.

Hey how funny this is revived.

 

The method my Dr suggested for my son worked- religiously twice a day I put neat tea tree oil on it. Every night in the bath we filed it with an emery board (unless it looked a bit raw / sore as it did towards the end) GONE

 

I now need to practice my own advice as I have one on my heel- I am less motivated for me but was 100% religious with my son. Good luck perseverence is the key IMHO

Sorry to read the Thuja didn't work I had a wart on my hand as a teenager and I used to burn it and then dig and pull it out. Probably not to be recommended but it went.

Definitely get it saturated and file away the dead skin and be very careful not to file too much off or it'll get sore.

 

My OH burnt his warts off - said it was effective but a horrible experience.

I had a wart on the palm of my hand for years and years. It used to get caught on things and I read about rubbing it with potato peelings! Gave it a go, gone. Got one on my other hand now, on my index finger so next time I'm peeling spuds, I'm going to rub again.......

Was going to give up but will persevere for a bit longer - I have now been trying to get rid of this blessed thing for over 18 months - the most obvious result is that I now have a new small one next to it!

 

Have given each remedy 3 months or so - my perseverance is not the problem. Its the blinking verruca. It has now stopped hurting which I suppose is something

File it away! and when it dries out try and remove the black dot in the core!

I must confess that when I was a teenager I had one on my little finger which I cut off with a penknife and it never re-appeared - I'm not recommending anyone else do this, but it did work !

Apparently warts and verrucas don't actually have roots. The black specs you see is where blood had entered it and dried

Yeah, it needs to look angry and sore - it hurts a hell of a lot less than half a foot worth of verrucas though!

It is a few years since my youngest daughter suffered from persistent verrucas, but the only thing that worked on them at the time was the over the counter freezing method (as long as you leave it on for the full time). I wish I'd known about the garlic, and lemon oil

 

On a slightly different topic - at a similar age (about 8 years old) she kept coming home with head lice. That was an awful summer!! Tried the pharmacy remedies but the darn things were too persistent and used to the chemicals....so I took a step back and resorted to what must have been used in 'the olden days'....vinegar! Loads and loads of it every few days before I washed their hair - it worked too!

 

For verruca the solution is verrugon, or anything with 50% salicylic acid, applied as directed. Couple of weeks and gone. tried on 2 kids.

 

For headlice the best and not poisonous solution is lots (LOTS) of hair conditioner and combing through very thoroughly every day. Is time consuming and boring and disgusting but it works. Teatree shampoo/conditioner helps to keep them away too.

I always used Biz Niz conditioner when Rosie had head lice - worked very well with all the combing.

Hi, my daughter also had loads of verrucas on her feet and it took a good 18 months to get rid of them, we tried all the remedies but in the end got somewhere with extra strength Bazuka every night after soaking and rubbing down, quite time consuming every evening and we used up several pumices and man made pumices. In the end I bought a rechargeable manicure set from Boots and used the metal file end which saved lots of elbow grease and was just the right shape to get the verrucas and not the surrounding skin used with soap for lubrication this worked well and she has now been free for a couple of years! She had them for a couple of years before getting to this stage so her immune system didn't seem to kick in that quickly but she doesn't seem to have caught any more so hopefully she's immune now. I think if you have had them for some years they are really large under the skin and require a lot of paring down and its really hard to keep up the regime, also the gels aren't really supposed to be used for more than 3 months and this sometimes isn't long enough. Weird thing is - his verrucae have disappeared but his warts on his knee have grown slightly! It's these we're trying deperately hard to get rid of. Doesn't seem keen on the snail for some reason

I've just had a call to say that DD is now at the top of the list for an appointment at the local GP 'Wart Clinic' ...oh the shame and embarrassment Actually she is delighted

Well, DD went to the wart clinic today all ready to have them frozen or something...she was told that she needed to use a 'paint' as freezing was very painful and the paints worked more quickly. She was given Salactol, a little 10ml bottle. It contains Salacylic acid and Lactic acid. Can't help wondering why there is a huge waiting list for the Wart Clinic when the GP could have given her this stuff when he saw her Will let you know how she gets on.

I'd be interested to hear how it gets on as I've used that in the past and didn't find it effective.

 

When Rosie had verrucas I found the practice nurse really reluctant to treat her with liquid nitrogen, in fact they refused to, despite being referred by the GP... another wasted appointment

Final update on DD's wart. We used the salacylic acid for weeks and nothing happened Finally got to the top of the wart clinic list again and she had it frozen. The doctor said that it would be really painful - it wasn't, and it fell of the same evening
