The white Silkie isn't quite right I wondered if he had splayed legs because he was reluctant to stand yesterday but they didn't look that bad. He kind of shuffled around on his belly. This morning he stands briefly but seems drunk, he keeps veering off and plonking down on his belly again. He can walk but his legs just seem weak. He can eat and drink so I hope that as he gains strength today his walking improves.

Ahhh no. I'd try the splayed leg cure first & monitor his strength over a couple or so days. Come on little chickie.

I've just been sat watching him and it's not splayed leg, when he stands up his feet are in the correct position. It's like watching a baby learning to walk. I'm hoping he's just exhausted, he took a long time to hatch but he seems happy. He's enjoying mixing with the others and they're all eating. He's got to get better for a visit to Georgias reception class at school on Wednesday

I had a pekin like that on my last hatch - it's called Penguin.. It seemed about a day or so behind the other chicks. But after about 3 - 4 days it was the one running around most. It took a while to get used to it's feet , but ate, drank & did all the other chickie stuff. I guess it broke out of it's shell a day too early.

Much better Still a bit wobbly, falls backwards onto his big fluffy bum from time to time but I've no worries about him now I'm just about to clean the brooder so I'll take a photo of him.

Blimey that silkie is staying blue too. Beautiful all of them & that little poot with the ginger head - will it be called Ginger nut ( get it ginger..nut, as in head). Ok I'll shut up!

They are wonderful and those little fluffy legs. Beats me how you can work out their colouring at this age. The last picture gets my vote

Blimey that silkie is staying blue too.

It's a bit of an oddball It has 5 toes on one foot, 4 on the other Two of the Silkies have inherited a single comb but they do have the right amount of toes. I'm sure the blue will be a blue splash, and not a proper blue colour either because it's too dark for blue. Will wait and see!

 

The 'Dutch' has a Roman nose bless him I think he was crossed with a Modern Game, he has massive long legs

They're doing really well, eating lots and getting bigger I'm starting to see their personalities now. Porcelain Poot is the quietest one, Ginger Poot & That Bluey Thing are the noisy ones
