Omletina Kyckling
With pellets, I find one lot of hens have different taste from others, I know I once "treated" mine to some expensive organic pellets and they wouldn't touch them, so your best bet is to just try them with them and see if they like them!! Redwing
Yes the horsey garlic powder is fine for chickens Spillers make quality horse food so I would imagine the layers pellets would also be good quality.
Angie
I use small holder as it is GM free, with added omegs 3's, my girls love it. I also use equestrian garlic..my vet says it is ok..cheaper too.
coco
The garlic is the same for chickens as used for horses. I bought Spiller pellets when I first got hens, they refused point blank to eat them and I ended up giving half a bag away. I use Smallholder pellets now and have no problems with them. They are only about £2.00 a bag more.
snowcloud
I read that putting a small clove of garlic in their water is a good way of getting some of that goodness into them, so I do this quite often and it doesn't seem to put them off the water! I just got some Stalosan F from there and a shallow Gorilla tub for the dust bath .
Jools
I read that putting a small clove of garlic in their water is a good way of getting some of that goodness into them, so I do this quite often and it doesn't seem to put them off the water! I used to do that too and it works well. Now I keep the cloves of garlic for us and my chickens get dried (horsey) garlic flakes in their pellets instead. Valkyrie
Arghhhh I knew I'd forgotten something!!!! I like to mix a bit of poultry spice, a little limestone flour, a little diatom and I forgot the powdered garlic! Mind you, too much and they hate the taste, so just a little of that (didn't stop them scoffing the leeks and chives though). Rushes off to squeeze a couple of teaspoonfuls into the pot.
