kerryegg
Why don't they? They seem very bright in other ways but haven't learned to stand on food for example cabbage, to make it easier to eat. Any ideas or is it just mine?

meezers
Some of mine do - trying to think which ones. I've often wondered why the others don't watch and learn.
JanTheDiver
A couple of mine do to, but not all

Old Speckled Hen
Scratch scratch step back and peck. I thought that's the way they do it because they can't bend over their full crop to see. A bit like tying your shoelaces when you're pregnant
Lavenders_Blue
Mine stand on their cabbage to eat it, but I think it's often more luck than a planned strategy!
Chortle Chook
Mine certainly seem to prefer their food cut up for them and that includes their salad which I tear into small pieces. Perhaps they are just lazy or too spoilt. However they are far from stupid. One of mine carried a little dove's egg onto the patio and dropped it to break the shell before happily eating the inside. (Poor Nelly dove, but then she does lay far too many).
chuckmum6
Mine are just thick then....................................I'll have to organise some training. It looks like your might be special needs chooks, I got a couple like that, real dumb clucks, but lovely!
Plum
I don't know about the cabbage but Pigeon stands in the food box when I'm trying to fill the containers
