Fox Attack

Recommended Posts

Chilli is the last remaining chook of the three we started with.

This morning, as I am working at home, I let her out for some free ranging.

Ten minutes later I heard a ruckus, ran outside to see scraggy fox trying to get her over the fence.

She fought back and I scared off fox.

A lot of feathers all over the place but she seems uninjured.

Initially, once I'd finally got hold of her, she just say huddled up but is now sat up on a tree branch in her pen. She looks OK from a distance but I don't want to over stress her by messing with her.

Any advice on checking her out or leaving he alone?

If you've had a look for obvious injuries i.e. breaks in the skin, then I'd leave her to settle for a bit. Keep an eye out for anything that might not have been obvious, e.g. broken bones. She must be feeling rather shaken, maybe some porridge or something tempting that might get her to eat? Poor old Chilli, I think avoiding any further stress is probably key at the moment.
