We bought two tiny rhea last June.

 

Puck and Toronto:

 

 

After 8 months of nurturing them carefully we allowed them complete freedom of the field - tragically Puck was killed by a fox on the very first day

 

We have just rehomed the other one as it was lonely and we didnt have the heart to get another one

 

Toronto went off alone today to join a small flock and will have a pal about the same age

 

Here he is looking all grown up before his trailer journey (I say 'he' turns out its probably a girl!)

 

 

It feels like we have failed completely but I am glad we agreed that this beautiful creature cannot be kept as safe and secure here as we would like

You haven't failed, it wasn't your fault a rotten fox got Puck. Look at how fabulous Toronto looks it must be heartbreaking to let him or her go! Sending you a big (((HUG)))

That's very sad, but a happy ending for Toronto in the end. It's not a failure to have raised him/her successfully and found a good home.
