Doris+Nora+Cheryl
Hello Yesterday in the garden I accidentally stood on one of my ex-batts who always gets under my feet, Doris. I didn't think too much of it, but noticed her limping badly about half an hour later and holding her leg up as she seems unable to put weight on it. I put her into the run so she didn't move around as much (she was still trying to run down the garden and it was a sorry sight) and she has been eating and drinking fine. She's still limping as badly today, but there's no obvious damage. Should I take her to the vets first thing tomorrow? I feel awful and am so worried if I take her they'll just say she'll have to be put down : ( Thanks for your advice, Laura
Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum, Laura . Don't feel too bad, it's such an easy thing to do. It may just be sprained in which case it will probably be better in a couple of days. Have you felt her leg to see if there's any heat or swelling? Is she weight bearing at all now? You could bring her indoors and keep her in a pet carrier or box to keep her immobilised a bit. I'm sure someone else will have more advice but I wouldn't worry too much at this stage, just keep an eye on her. Keep us posted . Edited to add a few links to other threads you may find reassuring . http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=74896&p=1056740&hilit=sprained#p1056740 http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=72419&p=1032225&hilit=sprained#p1032225 http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=73137&p=1035966&hilit=sprained#p1035966 http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=66004&p=961399&hilit=sprained#p961399
harryissy
Hi, Suggest you take her to the vet tomorrow if things haven't improved. Don't despair if it's a break, one of ours had a broken leg earlier in the year, the vet put a splint on, we kept her confined to a cat cage, and she was running around again in 4 weeks. Best of luck....will be thinking of you.
Doris+Nora+Cheryl
Hello Thank you so much for your reassurance. Her leg is much better and I think it was just sprained. She can now put weight on it and my guilt is slowly fading... Thanks again : )

majuka
That is such a relief, my girls are terrible at running under people's feet, there has been a few times when I have been walking through their enclosure and one of them gets knocked flying by my feet. Plum
Horrid isn't it. I sat on Grackle last year and she ate with her head on the side I felt absolutely awful but luckily next day she was fine and been well ever since, I hope you have a good outcome too.
