chicken bark
This morning (day 20) I got up to find 2 eggs had little chips out of them. I now have 3 Pekins making havoc in the incubator and another Pekin egg with a chip in it. So there is 1 Pekin egg and 4 Dotte eggs that haven't started yet but it still is only day 20! The humidity has dropped so tomorrow morning when I whip the 3 that have already hatched out I will up the water levels. Who knows what I will find in the morning. How am I supposed to sleep??? chicken bark
4 Pekins now. When they decide they are coming out they don't muck about!
Redwing
Excellent news! when you remove the first few chicks leave the wet ones in the inccy as they will dry better in there and also encourage the other chicks to hatch
chicken bark
5 Pekins all out (photos to follow). The 4 Dottes are pipping this morning too. Thanks Redwing - I only took them out as they were all fluffed up. One must have hatched in the night but I had to get them out as the first one had been in there 24 hours. They have discovered their food - I was watching them so much I almost to forgot to let the big girls out.
chicken bark
Here are some photos of the chicks that have hatched over the last couple of days. There is one more Dotte that is still in the incubator. There should be 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 3 Blue Pekins and 2 Lavender Pekins - does that look right? I think they are perfect not noticed any splayed legs or bent toes etc. but you all may spot things.

chicken bark
OOh lovely. I'm waiting to be able to candle mine, we are only on day five though. I think you are at the worst stage - at least after candling you know something should be happening. I've already got my next lot of eggs waiting to go in at the weekend. Awwwwwwwww well done you . I would like to hatch some chicks some day Go for it. As long as you know what you will do with the boys. It is a truly wonderful experience. The one chick that isn't in the picture had been trying to hatch from the wrong end for 32+ hours so I broke it out in the end. Wonderful feeling new life in my hands. I know it is not all lovely but I think I have had a good introduction to hatching.
