lillybettybabs
My big lab suffers with his ears if i don't keep them very clean, I'm using a Cleanaural at the moment but not that impressed with it as it take a couple of attempts to dislodge the dirty from the inner ear. Can anyone recommed a good soluitons?
The Dogmother
I once had a rescue foster with manky ears. I used to clean them with a cotton bud dipped in almond oil - worked a treat and they gradually cleared up. By the time he left me they were clear. lillybettybabs
I don't let them get to the infected stage, I'll try some oil also someone has given me a cider vinegar solution recipes which is handy as i always have that around. 1 tsp. of Apple Cider vinegar to a 1/2 cup of distilled warm water using a dropper. Apple Cider vinegar helps restore the natural balance inside your dog’s ear.
Old Speckled Hen
Canesten cream and almond oil 50/50 works a treat. Once daily for a week then as needed......make sure you use plenty, fill the ear up, massage well and mop up with cotton wool. I used to recommend this to clients who couldn't afford the expensive cleaners from me. A lot of dogs with ear problems have a low grade fungal/yeast infection, (you can tell this if the ear smells sweet) and the canesten sorts it. feleena4
I have 2 cavaliers and they regularly get waxy ears. They have caught ear-mites too when I have dog-sat my friends 5 cavaliers My vet suggested a regular syringe of 1 parts white vinegar to 3 parts cooled boiled water. Syringe a few ml into each ear and massage the 'tube at the base of the ear - thingy'. (Sorry I'm not fluent in medical terminology ) Anyhow, this really loosened the wax in my dogs ears and would recommend this method to any-one.
