Tara.F
Hi, just candled our hatching eggs (day 7) and it appears that four of the five are blank I'm not at all expert though and would never forgive myself if I binned a viable, half formed chick! so what I need to know is this, If they are blank, how long before they're in danger of exploding? If I give them another three or four days before candling again, will they harm the viable one? I know that the broody is rumoured to evict dead eggs but our Lacey broods stones and golf balls bless her I don't think she can be relied upon to quit on any of them. Thanks, Tara. sjp
if in doubt candle an egg out of the fridge or one that hasn't been incubated if ant look like that at day ten then they're duds if they are dark inside in any way they keep them I candled my 7 last night (day 9 bin day today you see) one clear so binned it one or two have dark bits that I'm not sure about so I kept them. I'll do them again on day

Charlottechicken
I've left blank eggs in the incy till day 23(because I'm too scared to take them out in case there really is something in them ) and none have ever exploded I do post mortem them all at that point, and some don't even smell
snowberry
My remaining 9 are due to hatch out on Friday. The first loss was my fault, I dropped it. Then there was a blank on day 8 & I got rid of it on day 10. I candled again on day 15 & found another blank one. I don't know how I missed it during the previous inspection! I'll let you know how it goes later this week.
