WitchHazel
We decided that, this year, we'd do one batch of chicks instead of 2 or 3. The chap we hatched Ligh Sussex for last year asked if we would raise some of last year's offspring for him, so we decided to get a second incubator as we felt that 2x20 would give us more flexibility than 1 larger incy. Of the 40 eggs we set, 3 were clear, 1 died after pipping, and 2 didn't develop properly so were dead in shell. We had 34 lovely chicks hatch a few days ago. We've now got them all in the brooder in the shed, under both a heat lamp AND an electric hen at the moment. Thought you might like to see some pics... Here's a pic trying to show as much of the brooder as possible.... Tiis is a close up of the chicks who are in the top right of the other picture... A a couple of chappies underneath the EH... ..and someone on top They are just SO gorgeous!!

WitchHazel
[quote="lwescott" ... lots of poo though! Yes. It's OK at the moment when they are this tiny, but it's going to be lots of work in a few days time... ...and then when they get outside on to my one-and-only-bit-of-previously-unchickened-grass will be wrecked! But it's only one hatch this year, which should be less work overall than tjree separate hatches. I hope.
