chickencam
We can't do much about most of our spuds because they are too tall already, but I have shut the greenhouse tight and covered my courgette and sweet potato with buckets. I do have 4 hanging basket tomatoes on brackets around the house too I am hoping that they will be ok because they are well hardened off, but time will tell. chickencam
I think we got away with it, everything around the house was ok, haven't checked the allotmennt, but I think it only went to 2-3 degrees here. Was everyone else ok?
Old Speckled Hen
Frosty this morning and yesterday. We have hail forecast for Sunday
Jools
There are some benefits to living half way up a hill - the frost often rolls right on past us and lands in the valley instead.
Christian
Looks like I did get frost last night. A few runner bean plants dead and a tomato.... On the plus side, the forecast has changed to no frost tonight!
chooklady
We had -2.9 last night. Covered courgettes and spuds and sweetcorn on the allotment but they look floppy all the same. Runner beans looking very sad and I completely forgot my fig tree which was coming along nicely it looks like someone has deep fried its leaves Will the runner beans recover or should I plant some more? Lets hope that's the last frost although they are quite possible right up to the beginning of June.
LolaLayla
I thhought it was only up here in Scotland that we got late frosts. I looked out this morning to see the roof on the house extension glistening Fortunately I had covered the one courgette I had been brave enough to plant out and it is fine. The peas, mangetout and potatoes all seem ok at the moment. I can't put tomatoes outside and corn has never worked for me here. I will need to be out covering that courgette tonight again
Lesley
I earthed up all the potatoes but the FEs were too tall and so they've suffered a bit - I'm hoping they still have enough undamaged leaf to make a recovery Everything else is still in the polytunnel and won't be planted out until there is no danger of frosts. sjp
just back from the allotment one bed of spuds (mainly first and second early heritage ones) look like they were spray with weed killer but they are already growing new shoots so they should only be a week or two late the other bed have hardly been touched.yet the spuds at home are totaly un-frosted as are the self setters on the plot every thing else is still in the greenhouse till the end of the month
