Snoxy Posted May 4, 2011 Share Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Hi Here are some pics of the garden makeover we did during the Easter holidays...it took us 9 full days in total...the first two days were spent digging out chicken manure from the free ranging area...70 rubble sacks in total...it was snapped up by some very keen gardeners and allotment owners The 'chicken' control barriers are working a treat...very pleased with them...have softened them a little with solar lanterns and flowers in pots We pull back the cover of the gazebo during the day so the girls get the sun and it has done the job wonderfully well by keeping out the rain...we had two long downpours here a few days ago and the ground remained dry It is only a very cheap Argos one which will need replacing...didn't want to buy an expensive one first off because we weren't sure whether or not it would work We re-used the old mesh from the previous fencing...making it a few inches higher than the top of the barriers to stop Mildred flying over into the garden We are laying new turf this weekend and I cannot wait...my lawn has never recovered after my original 3 girls pecked it to death 2 winters ago http://s796.photobucket.com/albums/yy241/Snoxy/garden%20makeover/ http://s796.photobucket.com/albums/yy241/Snoxy/Garden%20Make-Over%202/ Edited May 9, 2011 by Guest Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Benaberry Posted May 4, 2011 Share Posted May 4, 2011 love the crowd control barriers - think I need some of those! our 'chicken area' at the moment looks like something out of the 'Good Life' - a great illustration of reuse and reycling; currently cobbled together using the old chicken run on it's side, bits of old bbq grill and the old baby stairgate to allow access, all topped off with garden netting held down with wire & clothes pegs to stop Delilah escaping It's functional, but really not very pretty (at least all the reuse is environmentally friendly ) - plans for a much more effective WIR are in place for when the new shed is bought (can't do anything beforehand, shed will be forming one wall effectively - until we know how big it is, can't build the run) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The girls look like theyre having a festival... you need to kit them out - wristbands, access all areas passes, wellies, packet of Marlboro Lights and a bottle to swig from each!!
