The thrill of hatching never wanes!

And I think Mrs White would agree with me

My Light Sussex bantam is a lovely, reliable, patient broody and mum. This year I bought her six Mulberry Blue eggs and popped three of my own under her too, just in case. The first hatched on day 20, the final two on day 22 - talk about nail biting! In all, she has four Mulberry babies and three little Blackbirds (what I call the offspring of my Silver Sussex and Cuckoo Marans banties) and yesterday I took a few obligatory photos :D

The weather here is horrible at the moment so they're confined inside an ark but with mesh over the door for some air and light. I'm hoping to move them to their 6ft x 3ft pen this afternoon if the sun comes out as promised. Fingers crossed. :)

Gosh, thank you

Mrs White is doing a grand job still :D

The sun came out yesterday and the babies were looking longingly out of the meshed door on the ark, so I took the plunge and moved them into their new home - mum has her wings full keeping track of her charges now but they're all loving the extra space to suddenly run around wildly for no apparant reason!
