auntielizzie
I have been worrying about Betty Boo not eating her pellets. As in my previous post, I am now severely cutting down on treats, but I need to get Betty interested in the layers pellets again. I don't know if this is OK, but I tried mixing some up into a bit of a mush with some lukewarm water. She really loved this and tucked in straight away. I am pleased she has eaten a decent amount of pellets today (although she still won't touch the dry ones), but am I just making things worse for myself by doing this . Should I just leave her to it assuming that in the end she'll get used to having no treats and just eat her pellets (like a normal chicken ). surfer_chicken
She won't starve herself, so if you leave her with dry layer pellets as the only food available to her, she should lump it after awhile and eat it. The wet mushy ones should be fine too, but if it's extra hassle then you'll just have to endure her kicking up a fuss for a while until she gets used to 'normal' food. witzend
have you tried a few mealworms in with the pellets ??
auntielizzie
have you tried a few mealworms in with the pellets ?? No, I haven't; actually she isn't really that interested in mealworms (Bessie on the other hand absolutely loves them). I might try it but I think Bessie will just think she's died and gone to heaven
