Treacle
I have had chickens for almost a year now and our Springer Spaniel Treacle has spent many hours watching the girls through the netting. Last week the girls decided to come over the netting and make friends luckily I was there and all seemed to go well. Today Treacle decided to let the girls out herself and somehow opened the netting gate also allowing herself to get into their area. I looked out of the kitchen window to see her munching away on their pellets along with them!! The next thing I knew the most timid girl Ginger came raging around the coop with her wings out stretched and her feathers standing on end and launched herself at the dog pecking her nose!!! I never knew dogs could run that fast backwards!!! After half an hour of coaching I had to pick the dog up and carry her out of the run where she promptly ran and hid behind a bush!!! I now know that it is better to let the chickens do the talking
pips_pekins
I have a Springer too and she has been pecked sooo many times but still tries to get them . I have bantams but my friend has big girls and my Springer goes for them as well and their pecks must be much worse.
