mrsbeaky
I'm trying my hand at incubating with out homemade incubator again. I have Plymouth rock barred eggs in it and so far (day 2) the temp and humidity are staying nicely stable. I cant wait to candle them on Tues or Weds, its one of my favourite parts of hatching. Lewis
We hatched a few at work but none of mine ... yet! Got a broody on some eggs and may have another broody who started sitting today! Hows your kitten? Sorry for derailing the thread completely!
mrsbeaky
no worries, no-one else was interested anyway. Meg, kitten is gorgeous but has been a right handful. She is 5 months now and calming down a bit. My broody pekin is sitting on some eggs, she had 6 but yesterday i found it was only 5 and i discovered a small piece of crushed egg shell, do you think she is deliberately damaging them or could it be an accident. Have you come across this before?

mrsbeaky
Out of the 12 eggs i now have only 4 left and have given them all to Buffy, my broody pekin. if there is anything in them they are due to hatch on Thursday (28th ish) Buffy is being ever vigilant with the eggs and i reckon will make a great mum again as she did last year with her little brahma chick. Fingers crossed then.

mrsbeaky
Following the sad failure of all 12 plymouth rock eggs ( 10 were not fertile and the other two died in shell ) i have bought 6 cream legbar eggs, collecting them this time not getting them thru the post. Just as i was thinking of removing the last egg from the nest and cleaning it out Buffy, broody decided to up sticks and wanted out of the broody house, she flew happily down and ranged round the garden like a freed prisoner. I had considered using my other broody Penny this time but again just as i was cleaning it out and putting new straw in, Buffy came back and began to settle again as if to say "my eggs please" so she has been given the task of incubating some more, i hope for her sake that something comes of these ones.
