Could Someone Please Do Me A Favour? (Cube Nest Boxes)

Recommended Posts

I think you can find a plan on here somewhere. I'm no good with photos so sorry. But the nest box is huge- although rarely do I get 2 sitting side by side- they prefer to shout at the incumbent to hurry up! There is a thread on how someone has divided it into two somewhere as well. Also, I removed the divider from the perching area last winter as I had 14 chooks in there at night. They managed.

Not sure if this ramble helps!

Thanks for that :D The main reason I was asking was because I was wondering if there's anything to put on top of the nest boxes (if you get what I mean? :? ) In my cube in the nesting boxes theres a slit in the floor, and I was assuming that there's supposed to be something over the grey plastic to stop the Aubiose and girls' feet falling through.

I have a piece of plastic hose pipe that fits snugly along the slot. Works a treat. I will take a picture when I next clean them out and post it on here. :D Got alot on at the moment. Moving, packing, working and open studio's but will do my best to remember. I think you are from my neck of the woods. OPEN STUDIOS this Sunday 11am to 4pm Valentines Mansions Valentines Park Emerson Road Ilford. Nearest tube Gants Hill. You will know my studio I have lots of ceramic chickens. Intoduce yourself. :D

:D The nesting box slit is great for draining the water when washing. The draught is no problem in the summer, they still lay in there. I don't use any nesting material at all now, mine prefer it plain, but I used to sprinkle Aubiose both ends and leave the middle.

In the winter I do plug the hole in between cleans for warmth, but the hens have never had their feet stuck, it doesn't bother them. :D

All the best with your Cube.
