Henergy
It appears that I have a true flying chicken !!! Little has been escaping on & off since we had her (about once a week) but this last week she seems to be out more than she is in. Last saturday she flew out 6 times, so yesterday I clipped one wing. Today she flew out again 3 times, so I have had another go and gone shorter and double checked that I have got all the flight feathers. And lo & behold, I go back out to the garden & she's out again !!!!! What shall I do ????
lindafw
If you are sure she is flying and not finding a gap to escape through I would clip the other wing too...wonder if everyone will think I am mean and nasty???
Green Tea
I had an escapee that had to have both wings clipped I know that you're only supposed to clip one but that just didn't work and I figured that she was more likely to damage herself from a bad landing on one wing than by not being able to get high enough off the ground in the first place.......she didn't escape anymore and didn't seem to suffer from it. surfer_chicken
Have you actually seen her fly out? Mine are equally as good at finding gaps and holes to escape through- and remembering exactly where they are for next time! You could also try rearranging the run to 'confuse' her. Mine always jump onto something (normally the eglu run) and using this to propel themselves over the netting. Each time the run gets moved we have an escape free week, so it could work.
