Moan about RBS

Recommended Posts

We remorgaged with RBS in 2000 and have a current account mortgage which we had no problems with until 2006 When without informing is they reduced our facility causing my card to be declined at the supermarket. A visit to our local branch a telephone call to Glasgow and our facility was re instated a written apology wqs received and a note put on file that our facility was not to be reduced unless by our request. Guess what they did it again without any warning I went into local branch They phoned Glasgow to be told tough luck they will reduce it every year like it or not unless we ring Glasgow and ask them not to :x I am :x and have registered a complaint as far as I am concerned it is nonsense I will not be dictated to I will if neccessary move my mortgage even though we only have 4 years left what happened to the customer is always right :?:

EDF are just as bad.

My parents have just change from EDF to Npower. EDF rang them and asked why they had moved. My Dad explained the better off.

EDFman said "we could have done that". My Dad asked why they havant been informed of a better offer.

The reply

" Why would we tell you, when your happy paying more than you need to"

Gosh the fact you havent changed your mortgage since 2000 may indicate that you are not on the best deal anyway, nevermind their treatment of you. (I only said MAY)

We have, in the past, remortgaged every few years as if you shop around you can generally get a better deal. This is the first time we havent moved when we've come out of a deal as we are currently better where we are but I keep an careful eye on it and often ask our advisor what the current best deal is. Each time we have moved we have surprised ourselves how much we have saved.

Maybe you should speak to an expert to see what is on offer out there.

Oh yes, definately see what's out there. We've found HSBC the best again for us and our IFA agreed as well. They were doing fee free ones again for remortgaging and good rates with our LTV. Moneysaving expert has a link to an easy to use comparison site. Takes around five minutes I think.
