hi all, my babies are 4 weeks old on weds and i am pretty sure i have a little man, here are some pics for your more experienced eyes, thanks for looking!

I think the one on the left is a boy(fred) what do you think?

Looks a little slow developing compared to my cuckoo Pekin cockerel when he was 4 weeks, keep an eye on that comb in the next week, and the wattles, you'll know by this time next week.

 

I'll try and get a photo of my little boy later. He's 5 weeks.

Thanks that would be great. These are my first hatch so i am not very experienced yet! I thought he was a boy as he is so much more confident than the other 2, a real character. Time will tell as you say, will keep a close eye on that comb!

I've also had lads more obvious at that age

 

I's say its 50/50 at the moment but as already said another week will probably give the answer

At three weeks I thought both mine were probably girls - and some people on here agreed ......

 

 

 

Now they are ten weeks, one is definitely a boy and despite lots of crossing of fingers it seems as though the other one is too ....

 

 

 

Isn't it a shame the cockerels don't have something more obvious to distinguish them from the hens

Yes i agree! Such lovely looking "boys" as well!

Here is another pic of fred, i think its more obvious now that he is a boy . Do you agree, and the other 2 i am hoping are hens. Thanks for looking.

Looks that way, but with the passage of time, and if you remove Fred, you may find that another one might show its true colours.

Oh joy! I hope i have one hen at least, but thats hatching i guess! I could have had all boys....
