House deeds.

Recommended Posts

This might be a bit of a dim question :? , but where do people generally store their house deeds? We will shortly be paying of our mortgage and have been pondering the best place to store this rather important document.

You may find that your solicitor is happy to keep them in their strong room at no charge if they already have your Wills etc....

If your property is registered at the Land Registry - and most is, these days - then you don't need any deeds.

Yes that is right. We paid off our mortgage in June and have put the deeds in a floor safe we have in the house as there is no need to pay for a solicitor to keep them safe for you.

Fireproof tin box / safe. Always tickled me that we could keep anything but a donkey here! Our new deeds for the new place are enough to wallpaper a few rooms.

oh, what a shame, im sure you've always wanted donkeys :lol:

we specifically cannot keep horses :( we actually couldnt get a horse in the back garden, but thats not the point  nothing else is specified, so I could keep llamas or elephants, but no horses
