WarrensWorld
Recently one of my credit cards was hacked and used fraudulently, to the tune of €1700.00. This happened over the course of 24 hours. It was used in 8 different places all over the UK, 2 in Ireland. Well the CC company were really up to speed with this one they informed me as soon as it flashed up on their computer. Well they shut that account, and opened a new one, I received my new CC and details in 3 days which I thought was OK. I now have another level of security on the CC, and my bank have supplied me with a widget that gives me a different magic number that I have to use every time I transfer a balance, or a bill. Stayed with me so far? here comes the PayPal bit. The CC was/is my primary PayPal card, it has the lowest interest rate. I log into my PayPal account to change the CC details, and it tells me it doesn't recognise the card. I tried several times using higher case, lower case with and without spaces nothing. So I telephoned PayPal Ireland, in India they lady was very nice, but said I had to send email photo copies of my passport, CC statement and two utility bills. I said no way love, well something along those lines!. So back to the CC fraud office Nicky (lovely lady) says under no circumstances am I to give out that information. I replied I know that, so what do I do?, she said contact PaP again and ask to speak to a manager. So I did I didn't ask for the manager, I told the lady what had happened and she said no problem. She was going to send the CC company a 4 digit code with the €1.00 PaP account. All I had to do was get the 4 digit code off the CC statement, and post it on my CC account on PaP. Well my CC statement isn't due for 3 weeks. On the off chance I logged into my PaP account, and low and behold there was my new CC details!. All I think of ist that Nicky must have contacted PaP, and set things straight. I've been Morethan Boring, thank you for listening. P.S. You may have used your CC 12 or 18 months ago they keep your details and clone several cards all to be used within 24 hours. Looks like chip and pin doesn't work that well, or at all. Yes I received my money back.
chicken bark
I'm glad you got your money back. What a horrible experience and extra aggravation. I always used to laugh when I'd get a phone call from a store asking me to validate their card and then asking me for personal details. They thought I was odd that I didn't want to tell them anything. I just felt they could have been anyone and it was up to them to prove to me they were who they said they were. If I'd phoned them that would have been different.
Alis girls
Night mare WW - I had my card cloned again whilst in Spain - the bank fraud office called to ask me if I was in New York _ I said "I wish" - now on our statement says to let them know if you are going abroad. Honestly your life isnt your own - anyone feel like youre being watched (in my brain somewhere a song is going round "somebodys watching me") no doubt some one in the know will let me know who sang it
