Unsecure chicken perches

I bought a chilli plant a few months ago because Sainsburys had run out of their loose chillis, I expected that it would die within weeks, however I've finally found my green fingers and now have a glut of chillis with about 20 on the plant with loads more flowers! I'm now looking for inspirational recipes to try and knew the 1st place to turn was the omlet forum!

No instant recipes but wanted to say they will freeze really easily as a complete chilli. I always have some in the freezer then use them straight from the freezer in the recipe that calls for them.

Didn't realise you could freeze them, thanks that's a great idea especially as I'll be craving heat and spice as the days get colder!

Funny you should post this . I've just today picked all my chillies (they had terrible whitefly ). I thought it was a pepper plant so it was quite a surprise when chillies started appearing . I'm planning on freezing them (as recommended by a forum member in this thread).

Been picking mine all summer - we too have had heaps.

I have dried a fair few (left them in a lock & lock on a windowsill,no lid on) & froze some more.

I also made a FAB Chilli Jelly with cooking & crab apples

You can also preserve them in olive oil. They keep ages this way and the oil is great when you want to add a little kick to a dish.

Thanks for the tip I didn't know about freezing.

 

It is so easy to dry them....we put them in the airing cupboard, I was told to make sure they don't touch each other whilst drying as that could make them go mouldy

Wow - RED chillies - mine are still all green.

I thought I was growing cayenne chillis, but they turned out to be orange habaneros!

 

My OH wasn't too impressed when I put them in the dinner
