Minty_76
Until today! Had the 3 girls exactly 2 weeks now and Henrietta Peck was in the extended run sitting in a hole and having a good clean. I just found myself keeping out of sight (as soon as they see me through the door they run up!) and being really pleased! Then Boki-Boki found herself a Boki-Boki shaped hole and also had a good bath. Brilliant! Sorry-just had to post this! lindafw
don't they make you smile when they are happy??? there is just 'something' about chickens that makes me happy So post away...your happy image made me smile
jennym
I posted about exactly the same thing the first time I saw it. It's probably the cutest thing a chicken could do, IMHO. I still just sit and watch them go at it for ages whenever I can. OH doesn't like it so much though, as he's a bit protective about the plants He thinks I should scold them and shoo them away Doesn't he know they own the garden? lindafw
dont forget that if they have a favourite spot to dust bathe in you can add some louse powder so they delouse at the same time!
chickanne
I've made mine their own chicken jacuzzi! Only the best sieved soil for them. I like the way they feel all damp and gritty when you pick them up - no wonder the bugs don't like it. Since mine have had their jacuzzi I have not had to delouse them once
gongladosh
on a similar note, I quite like the ex-batt hen dustbathing here http://www.bhwt.org.uk/cms/gallery-of-spoilt-hens/ - she looks like she's REALLY enjoying it.

jennym
Only the best sieved soil for them I tried to clear their favourite spot of rocks & lumps to make it nice for them, and they just went somewhere else
Space Chick
My garden resembles the lunar surface with all the dust bathing holes I add diatom and buz busters to them

jasperaliceuk
Its a delight to see them dustbathing. They still prefer to make their own than use their luxury one with nice compost and sand in a seed tray. I shifted my netting run the other day, letting the girls free range while I did. Picked up Mimi to put her back in and she got an impromptu flying lesson when I fell in one of their holes! Sue
