A quick hello...

Recommended Posts

Just a quick hello from a newbie...

I had friends with chickens years ago when I was shall we say, a fair bit younger...

Have now finally got around to getting some of our own.

I'll get around to posting up some pics when I get to know my way around this forum :)

We have 4 new girls and an Eglu Cube with 3M run.

Well happy with how they are settling in.

Thanks.

We picked up our girls on the 8th October after spending a fair bit of time 'researching'... Lol...

Our wanting for a few girls was re-kindled after spending a few days on holiday at a farm in Devon earlier in the year that had free rangers running around the holiday cottages.

That and some time on a friends farm house sitting for them.

When I can suss out how to post pics (or when I'm allowed to after just joining). I will do :)

So you can meet......

Chickens..... Korma, Balti, Tikka and Madras :)

(Amber lee, Speckled, Cotswold Black Tail and Black Star).

Welcome- I hope you're enjoying your new chickens!

I think you need 5 posts before you can post pictures :)

And this is a little guide because you can't upload the pictures straight on to the forum.

Thanks for that :yes

Yes, the girls are glad to see me in the mornings and evenings. Settling in nicely after a few days of sorting pecking orders...

It is great to see them settling in and great to start understanding their characters...

I have seen the odd chicken have a mild dust bath before.

But Madras (Black Star) had a full on, rolling onto her side and nearly onto her back, on the left and the right. Kicking dust everywhere with the opposite side leg... Head and back of neck right back into it... Burbling as she did so.

I had never seen that before.

I just stood there chuckling to myself, somewhat in awe, what a wonderful sight.

Think she well and truly scratched that itch...
