Janepie33
If anyone is in the Bournemouth area and you come across a group of students wearing LEGITT T shirts trying to hitch a ride, please take pity on them and take them somewhere! They will be travelling in groups of 2 3 or 4 and all groups have tracking devices. The aim is to get as far away from Bournemouth Uni in 36 hours, without spending any money (last year one group made it to Egypt!). Both my children are doing this today, but sadly it seems they have not managed to leave the start point yet! The charities they are fundraising for are : Teenage Cancer Trust - Margaret Green Animal Rescue - Roundtable Children's Wish - The Royal British Legion Omlet vibes greatly appreciated. patsylabrador
I found the Twitter address @bournemouthrag which posts updates of where some of the teams are. It's good fun. You must be proud of your kids.
Janepie33
They hitched to Winchester then a couple gave them a lift to Crystal Palace and they have somehow got to Waterloo East where they are trying to catch a train to Dover. Had a text from DS a couple of hours to say there was a bit of a glitch, but nothing since! . Not much phone contact as they are trying to conserve their batteries. Yes patsylabrador. Very proud! You can find them on the main site under Sophie S or Georgie 1717

snowberry
Do you have to pay for them to get back, or do the charity. Or do they do the same to get home?

Ain't Nobody Here
What a brilliant adventure for them and for such a good cause too .
Janepie33
They either have to blag their way home again or pay to get themselves back (could be expensive! ). So far the whole process has restored my faith in people. The public have been so kind and generous and companies too, such as COSTA who gave them free drinks and muffins and the ferry company which gave them all a huge free meal. Janepie33
Very annoyingly the Berlin airport staff would not let them on a BA flight to Heathrow (we live 30 mins from Heathrow airport! ) so they have had to make their way to a coach station to try their luck there. After being on hold for 20 mins to a lovely lady from BA who told me that she didn't have the authority to OK the flight, the flight departed. Hopefully they will return to England at some point. The public in general have been amazing and hats off to COSTA and MacDonalds (and others I don't yet know about) for feeding them.
