I've made a small donation. You should be very proud of your kids 8) .

Thank you so much.

They ended up staying in Strasbourg last night and have managed to make it as far as Brussels but the people in the ticket office are unable to authorise a free ticket. :( I tried to book them all a ticket on the last train of the day, but I can't do that either as they need my card to collect the tickets! :wall:

Fortunately they have enough money between them to get back, but it is a shame they haven't managed the whole trip for free.

Hooray to Costa, Macdonalds, one of the ferry companies at Dover and a multitude of train guards and members of the public.

Booooooooo to British airways, BMI, Eurostar and a Belgian train guard who took their passport details and insisted they pay for their train fare within 14 days!

Not sure if I will see them tonight or if they will travel straight back to Bournemouth.

Very very proud of them anyway!

Yes,thank you, back to uni safe and sound. One to Winchester and two to Bournemouth. They travelled all the way through Germany and France and only encountered problems in Belgium where they were frequently ejected from trains and one guard took their passport details and demanded that they pay the fare within 14 days. :anxious::anxious:

They finally made it to Eurostar and there was absolutely no chance of a free ticket. Apparently they WILL help out charities occasionally, but only if you book in advance. They could have got an all night coach back home, but they were exhausted, cold and (in the case of the girls, emotional :( ) with lectures awaiting them today, so I said I'd pay for the tickets home. They only just managed to catch the last Eurostar to St. Pancras.

The London Underground staff allowed them to travel free and once they got to Waterloo, the guards just opened the gates for them and waved them through without being asked, saying "Come on then. There have been alot of you today":D:clap:

All in all it has been an amazingly positive experience and the students have raised nearly £30,000!!

Well done to them all! :D

Friends did this last year and managed to get to Amsterdam ... others got to somewhere ridiculously far like New Zealand! 8)

They found on the way to Amsterdam if they asked at coach stations they said no ... but if they asked the coach drivers they said yes if there was space :)
