Walk in run..how can I convince hubby it's a must have?

Recommended Posts

We already have an enclosed area at the rear of the garden with the cube & extended run in. The ladies have an additional 2ft (approx) around the coop & run to free range.

We had the garden landscaped August last year and had the coop area purposely built. The current coop area is not big enough to fit a WIR in.

My thought process is to remove one side of the fence and turn the coop around and bring it into the garden area. Add the WIR, re-turf around coop and make the coop a feature in the garden.

Now how do I convince my hubby that a WIR & re-landscaping the bottom of the garden is a good idea?:lol::lol:

WOW! Thanks Ain't "Ooops, word censored!"ody Here, how easy was that. He's agreed that its a good idea & he even came up with where the cube can be placed so that it's outside the run to make access easier.....I just dropped the thought :lol:

We've decided that it's a summer project so we will have plenty of time to research & plan. Some of these runs are really plush...seats & tables for the chooks...pure luxury :lol:

I like the idea that you have built perches and different things into yours...more ideas

P.S Don't think your pooch looks to impressed with the tinsel :D

 Yours is loverly....now that's what I can see in my chicken area. What do you have as your flooring?

Before I went to bed was convinced I wanted to keep the soil floor....now....

I need to draw up plans and look at all aspects from cost to maintenance. This is not going to be a quick project!!

this might give you an idea

my WIR sits on breeze blocks

as you can see the weldmesh is built into the base and runs the full lenght of the floor with a 12 inch skirt and the inside of the run is slabbed so double protection from any thing trying to dig there way in and here is the finished product with roof and guttering and acrylic panels at the end

by sitting it on the breeze blocks it raises it off the ground and it less likely to rot as if was just put on the grass and also stops water seeping into the run
