patsylabrador
Our tree is still going strong and has bright green, what looks like new growth. Is that likely? We put it in the garden as a temporary bird feeder and it seems very happy. I was wondering if it could be propagated at all.
Lavenders_Blue
How strange! I'm not sure if new growth would be possible, I wouldn't have thought so if it is a cut tree, but then I'm not really a tree expert so... maybe?! How lovely that your birds can enjoy it. snowberry
My neighbours have a tree that is flourishing in their garden after about 7 years. I presume it was potted, but understand that even these are unlikely to 'take' as they are usually potbound....
The Dogmother
A neighbour recently had a tree felled as it had grown too big for their garden; it was a potted Christmas tree from 9 years ago!
craftyhunnypie
Don't laugh , but ours is still in the house! We found it easier to snip bits off it & shove them straight onto the open fire! It looks a bit of a sorry state now, but saved us trying to drag the enormous thing through doors & the hallway. Emma.x
Purplemaniacs
Sorry I didn't mean to I just have a wonderful picture in my mind of this ever decreasing tree. Chrissie
Cinnamon
We have 5 christmas trees around the garden, all of which were potted - in fact one was our fisrt tree which was a table top size ....it is now a beauty of 12 foot or so. We always meant to cut them for the house, but sort of never got around to it Most are on the perimeter,& we will be cutting about 3 down later this year as we are re jigging the garden a bit. Mine are all Nordman Firs - I don't know if they are especially good for growing on after Christmas, but they do make for beautiful trees. For the last 8 years or so we have had cut ones, which go through the shredder after use & make a great smelling mulch.
craftyhunnypie
Yes it is an ever decreasing tree. It will soon look like a broomstick stood there. When it does, I must take a photo! Emma.x
craftyhunnypie
Drum roll please....the Xmas tree went out of the living room yesterday!!! Ha ha. After it looked like a broomstick - it was taken out & cut into logs! I know you all found this amusing! There is now a huge empty space in the corner - perfect for a dog basket actually!
