TheChookKeeper
OK - it's definately time to start bunging up the nestbox again as soon as it is light enough in the evenings that I'm home before the girls go to sleep... Every night, I go to collect the eggs, to find this... Yes, that is 6 chickens (7 until one high-tailed it out of there as soon as I opened the egg port!), and yes, they are 2 deep in places. I give them a great big eglu cube to live in... and still they prefer to pile themselves in 2-deep! Silly chooks!

millie
Hi there chook keeper, what do use to block the nestbox with? one of my little banties gets bullied from the others and has taken to nesting on the bars in the omlet run. What i was thinking was block the box off and put her in there to have some peace from the others. What do you guys think, feel i need to do something incase it gets colder. TheChookKeeper
Contented and happy, yes, they certainly are! Although I'm not convinced the ones on the ground floor enjoy it quite so much as the ones on top!!! One of them at least now understands that when I open the egg port, she needs to vacate the area - but the rest just look at me, with this pained expression on thier faces! As I say, they can stay like that for the time being... but the number of squished eggs I get (which with 9 chickens, I only get 1 or 2 a day anyway!), it can't stay like this! As soon as I'm getting home from work earlier than they're going to bed, I will be bunging up that hole! Cheeky chooks!
