2009 Omlet cube and run for sale

I wrapped big bubble bubblewrap round the pet carrier my new girls are using in their temporary accommodation. That was then covered by some heavy picnic rug backing.

 

I'd noticed a little piece wafting about in the run a few days ago and then again today. Decided perhaps it wasn't the best thing to leave in there if they were pecking at it. Took it off the carrier and was quite concerned to see that there were great big gaps in it .

 

I hope they haven't been swallowing any of it . OH thinks it might be mice - I'm hoping he's right .

Mice would certainly eat that sort of thing. I'd have thought they would have shredded the lot, if it was your hens - they don't usually hang about!

If the picnic rug covering was still in place I too would think mice are the culprits.

I appaear to have "lost" mine again, doubt they have gone far.

I caught one of mine eating an old plastic plant tag that she found while freeranging. If she'd eat that, I can believe they might go for bubblewrap as well!

The cages at shows often have a long row of paper along the back so they can't see out to the cage behind ... they often peck away at that to see their neighbours!

I'm just slightly concerned because Layla hasn't laid for about 3 days after laying every day for a week . Lulu is laying every day but perhaps she wasn't so keen on the bubblewrap.

I found mine pecking the polystyrene of a polystyrene planter and was very worried. We had to get rid of it as they would always find it, wherever we put it in the garden.

Mine LOVE eating thin plastic - including shower curtains !

So much so, I can't use it anymore.

They ate a load once (before I realised) - didn't do them any harm (luckily)

Yes - mine eat shower curtains too, little devils! No stopping the power of a chicken!
