bronze
I know some of you do. I'm asking this for a friend so what are some of your views? Edited June 24, 2007 by Guest
Couperman
We have ours parked on the patio only a couple of yards from the patio door. We did this on purpose cause we were worried that they might begin to pong and we wanted to know before our neighbours did and take care of it before they had cause to complain. It makes cleaning the run easier as we discovered this morning and you don't have to go trekking down the garden in your dressing gown to let them out in the morning or get the eggs! As it's turned out it doesn't really smell much at all thanks to the EasyBed+ and the Citronella oil keeps the flies down. The big bonus is foxes and rats have difficulty using power tools so nothing can dig under it either. Another reason we put it where we did is it just seemed to engulf the garden everywher else we tried it. I tucks in quite nicely next to the greenhouse. Hope this helps. Kev. xScrunchee
Mine is on the patio too It is weighed down (around the skirt) with bricks and pots. We have a massive fox problem around here and I feel safer with them near to the house and on slabs to stop any digging into their run. I have put wood around the base of the run though because whatever material you use as flooring gets kicked straight out and caught up in the skirt and is a pain to sweep away plus looks very messy! I also think that it's nice to be able to hose everything down so it's all clean. My girls seem much happier since being on the patio and they scratch about a lot more in there than they do when they were on grass. I hang veggies in their run every day in a hay rack as well as a suet cage thingy so that they have to work for their treats to prevent boredom. They also have a CD and a lump of polysterene hanging up which they all completely ignore!! Turned into a bit of a waffle there-sorry! bellekatz
WE put our new run on a new patio at the end of the garden. They have hemcore to scratch around in and we take it all out and powerwash once a month. It also means the Mr Fox cant get in underneath. It has worked well for us........................... I like the idea of this. we have bits of polystyrene around our garden, from a plant that I unpotted, I thought that i'd picked it all up, but today the chooks told me otherwise they had found it!! Egluntyne
Mine are on paving slabs. The fox can't dig into the run (but a rat did once dig under the slabs....I saw him off). Dead easy to clean with a power washer.

A suet cage thingy (you can tell that I know what I'm on about can't you? ) is square, plastic coated, wire cage with a lid that lifts up, it is on a chain so it can be hung in the run. I got it from Wilkinsons in the wild bird food section. I think it was about 99p but I can't remember-it was definitely no more than £1.99 anyway. I cram it full of goodies and the girls spend ages pecking away.
