At the archery club we use horseboxes to move the targets and kit to have a go sessions and in the last few years two boxes have gone walk about on their own, so annoying that some people just help themselves. If people are determined then they will still take the trailer but we've made it as difficult as possible. They each got a tiny bit as a reward for being so good. There's been loads of stuff nicked around here; Kings Sutton was without phones and internet for a few days after the copper cables were stolen. He has at last worked out that he has to open his mouth and the milk comes from the teat and not my sleeves! he wagged his tail so hard yesterday that his tail flew off and Tali ran off with it!!!! We take him over to the small barn in the morning so he can have more space and grass to nibble at - the old ewes are in the paddock next to him so they can meet up at the fence. We've got a couple of tiny lambs at the Uni farm, they're just under a kilo! Were born on Saturday night and looked really bad so I put them in the heat box and tubed them colostrum, have been tubed for a couple days but then this (well, Monday) morning they took a bottle I put one of them down and she hobbled off so they're getting stronger + walking! That's the extent of your mothering, isn't it? I love all sorts of babies but animal babies just have the edge over human ones in my book. My friend's big GSD (Solomon) really loves babies, when his 'wife' had 11 puppies 3 years ago, he was so very gentle with them, he loves her kittens too. Don't get the fridges mixed up if making a cuppa in the farm office! Not allowed to go in and see them without having a shower and getting changed first (and back again after!). They've got some cows that only researchers and post-graduates are allowed to see. Madness!! I miss Solly! He is good with the kittens at the yard, and kids... he talks to back to me (in a high pitched squeal) Done 45 hours Lambing this week, plus lectures! Missed one lecture on Monday morning but so did half the class + they don't have an excuse We've got the night off + going out tonight! I got attacked by a bore when trying to help him on (if you know what a mean ) he stuck his great big tusks in my leg . He picked it up and swung round, the (valuable!) contents of the bags went everywhere, I was nearly sick I laughed so much it hurt.
