MissPug+Chooks
I have decided to get some Lavender Pekins however the 2 places closest to me are asking £25 for each! Just wondered if that is the going rate or not - seems a bit steep to me!
ilovechickens
well where I am they seem to be asking £10 each
Redwing
For a Pekin of 16 weeks or older £15 to £20 is about right. If they were frizzle feathered or a rare colour then £25 isnt out of the question For that I'd expect a bird from a place that is knowledgable with good husbandary though
Mollie333
Redwing pretty much hit the nail on the head there.. It's all about quality, also. A place I know sells unsexed for £5. Pullets up to 12 weeks £10-15 depending on what colour/frizzle etc, then POL £20. Remember - breeders have to raise them, not to mention the feed, bedding, incubation/brooder costs.. It all mounts up! For a healthy hen, £25 is fine.
Duncan08
We average around £15 for a Hybrid, £25 for Pure Breed. You can get them for less if you are prepared to shop around, and you can go to markets where they can be cheaper still but you won't really have any idea where they have come from.
