Meganymoo
Will the small-medium egg Skelter in the shop fit bantam eggs or will they just fall through?? Thanks, Megan
gongladosh
Mine are fine in a medium-large egg skelter- it's rare that a bantam egg is too small (or so I've found!)
Chucky Mama
There are 2 different sizes of Skelter, the small to medium and the medium to large
kinsk
Does anyone else find that their eggs get jammed? If I take more than one out the bottom section roll down but one always gets jammed causing a backlog.
Chicken shack
Does anyone else find that their eggs get jammed? The idea is good but I often crack the eggs. Need a better system so untill I find an alternative I like I will have to keep the skelter. Chucky Mama
I wondered if it was me being silly expecting the skelter to allow the eggs to rolls down My eggs have never rolled down the skelter. I have to move each egg down and any hint of an accidental roll results in a cracked egg. It is good to keep the eggs in date order but is pretty useless in my experience in terms of the eggs rolling down.

I have found that pointy side in helps but the still get jammed.
Eggasperated
I love my egg skelter and everyone who comes comments on it; but until my girls learn to lay uniform size eggs I think I will always have the problem of stuck eggs. Obviously instructions to the chickens should have been included with the product .
chuckmum6
My Pekins egg jam the whole thing up, because some of them are not much bigger than a pigeon egg. I find that eggs fall off and crack, I think it need another rail on the inside to prevent the coming off, I do use it as it helps with freshness. munkee1965
I got one of these the other day. Looks great in the kitchen. All I need now is for my girls to start laying x
Chucky Mama
oh have I been dim or what I have been stacking my eggs in the wrong way It works much better when you stack it the right way
Snowy
My hubby does the same CM, puts the pointy end facing outwards. It definitely works better with pointy end in Uniform eggs do help though, some seem to twizzle round as they roll. My problem is always having too many eggs for the skelter - if it's too full, you always get some that stick
Bantambabe
I had a small/medium one when I had my bantams and it was great. Got a full size one for the full size girls and I've given up trying to use it - it's useless! Eggs don't roll on it at all whichever way around I load them. I've got a 15 egg cardboard egg box with the lid cut off now - they don't fall out of that!
Redwing
I hate mine - it lives on top of the kitchen cupboards
bluekarin
I love mine Yes, occasionally the eggs don't roll down as smoothly as I'd like, but I never need to worry about using the eggs in the wrong order. I thought the eggs had to be big side on the inside, so I shall try it the other way round and see if thats any better on the rolling front
munkee1965
I think it will be a while before my eggs are big enough to st on the skelter
