welovemarmite
Went to my first puppy training session last night and came back in agony. Crouched down next to my puppy and something went ping in my thigh. Now in pain, can't lift it and have a hot swollen leg..... HUMPH Feeling sorry for myself, please send sympathy by the bucket load. lillybettybabs
Ouch! lots of R.I.C.E and comfort food will help (well the first one will, second will cheer you up).
welovemarmite
Yep, I riced it last night. Just been to pharmacy. Who measured my knee for the strapping rather than my thigh and told me it was fine to put deep heat on and ibuprofen gel and put a bandage on top... I am pretty sure you shouldnt... but he did look like he should have been at school and this was the pharamcist not an assistant....
lillybettybabs
If it's muscular then no, Keep to RICE!
The Dogmother
Very odd advice; I'd go the RICE route too and take plenty of Arnica to help it heal - works wonders on us and the dogs.
lillybettybabs
ooo i have steam coming out of my ears, Heat can do more harm - naughty Pharmacist!
ClaireG
As your leg is hot and swollen, i wonder why on earth he told you to put heat on it I agree with DM and LBB stick to the RICE.
Seagazer
Ouch sounds painful. I agree with the others RICE rather than heat. Hope it settles down soon.
welovemarmite
Well, went to the GP this morning. Fat lot of good she was.... take pain killers, it will take a very very long time to heal. I told her i couldnt lift my leg and all she said was thats unusual and if it hurts dont move it... She also told me to put heat on it. i was so annoyed when i left. Several friends on facebook talked me into going to the hospital So spent 5 hours there, was prodded. Been given crutches, told to totally ignore my GP. Have to go back tomorrow and they will make arrangements to scan it..... Ho hum..
The Dogmother
If you're prepared to come to town and to see someone slightly off the wall but totally brilliant then I can recommend a very good osteopath who will sort it for you. Heat indeed
LolaLayla
Oh I am so sorry this has happened to you and I can sympathise as I am just starting to feel better after a back/leg injury. These things seem to take so long to heal and you can become very irritable and impatient (well I did). I hope it won't be too long until you feel some improvement, at least you are getting a scan soon and then you will be able to get the correct treatment.
