wannabe smallholder
Hi, we're just setting up our walk in run ready for the arrival of our girls in the summer. I was just wondering how much bedding I would need to adequately cover our WIR. You know when you go to a builders merchant for sand etc and you tell them width x length x depth they some how magically work out the weight you need. Is there a magic formular for woodchip or Aubiose? Does anyone know roughly what a 20kg pack would cover? Cheers x
Troy
Hi there, We have a 15ftx15ft octagonal run. To relay the floor with Aubiose after a full clear out, we use about 3 bales. If you have a covered run ie a roof whereby the Aubiose will remain dry on rainy days, then you will only need to top up as and when it needs it. So initially the cost may be high, but once laid it is not an expensive floor covering to lay. Hope that helps troy

MummyHen
I have a 6ft x 15ft fully covered WIR on paving slabs and use 1 Aubiose bale each time I do a full clear out. I cleared out last at the beginning of jan and just did a full spring clean at the weekend and if by magic I filled 3 Aubiose bale bags!! Redwing
I use just under 1 bale in a 12 x 6 area in a stable. I keep the remainder for top ups
wannabe smallholder
Thanks everyone. One bale should do it for us then and it sounds like pretty absorbant stuff MummyHen!!
