TAJ
My hubby started a bike ride in aid of Sue Ryder today. They started in Land's End and will be finished in 12 days time - around 1000 miles. First day has been up and down the hills of Cornwall (84 miles), tomorrow sees Devon and crossing Dartmoor. There is a photo on their webpage and a bit of a blog http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/ScrumpyWheelers It is a big challenge for him, but I am pleased day one went well, just 11 more to go! Looney
My thoughts exactly....hope they cope with the hot weather ok. Good luck to them for the rest of the ride, a great thing to do
Clash City Rocker
Good luck to them. I'm currently training for a London to Paris cycle ride (22-24 June) only 300 miles over 3 days. It must have been hard work over the first couple of days due to the hot weather, I don't know which will be worse sunshine, rain or wind. TAJ
Went to see them last night as they were 40 miles from home - 97 miles yesterday and he looked a bit sun burnt around the edges (used sun cream, but missed a few bits! Can you believe that one couple doing it had their house broken into yesterday whilst they were away doing this charity ride (son still living at home) and had their mountain bikes stolen - it is so wicked. Obviously everyone knows they are away around here. Tracy
TAJ
5 days down and 7 to go. The lowest mileage in a day has been 84 miles and max 97 miles. The tale of today made me laugh - I wonder if any Omleteers saw this today? They were held up by the Olympic torch and then after the final police car they carried on. So it was Olympic torch, bus, police car then 8 cyclists - people cheered and waved them on! Tracy
TAJ
He has done it cycled land's End to John O'Groats in 12 days. They started in a heatwave through Cornwall and Devon and ended yesterday in the cold wet and wind - so much so whilst riding along the north coast towards John O'Groats one gust of wind knocked him off his bike and another on coming gust was so strong it made him stop - they were having to push hard downhill just to move forward as the wind was so strong. I am not sure what the final total will be but people have been giving them money as they go and their online giving site is showing new donations everyday. The will be back home tomorrow for a heros welcome. Tracy
