Mel (& Paul)
We still eat meat but only animals that have had a free range life - eating more vegetarian food when we go out as a lot of places cant confirm they supply free range. (and I'm crabby..........)
Louise
I'm crabby too I am the sort of person that will at least try things once apart from shellfish as I have some allergy issues I have eaten some very odd meat in my time I went to a party about a year ago and one of the dishes was buffalo stew It was very nice and nothing like chicken
Mel (& Paul)
When we were in Africa we ate crocodile - bony fish and zebra my only defence is that they farm them like cattle and they were free range and I've had ostritch too I LOVE seafood - crab, lobster, prawns, oysters cant get enough of the stuff must be my star sign
Mrs Blue Sky
Food politics is a tangle an angel couldn't get out of... I was veggie (and vegan for a while) and lapsed when I married a carnivore, but always felt a bit uncomfortable about it, it didn't used to be so easy to be sure about provenance. But I have gone back to my old ways now, in fact I made the children veggie over the summer holidays and it took them 5 weeks to notice! But I have started to cook them meaty things a few times in the week now, and they do love it and scoff whatever I put in front of them, but I don't eat it myself. I think minced meat is particularly ghastly. I cook loads of Thai and indian things for myself and DH, and he says it is all so tasty that he doesn't notice the lack of meat! But we couldn't surely manage not to farm animals for protein, or the country would be full of farming theme parks, and then most of the young would have to be killed anyway... Certainly wouldn't hurt anyone to eat less meat tho. I will wait and see if the kids make the connection between roast chicken and the unroasted ones in the garden next week! buffie
Stopped eating meat for the first time when I was ill 18 years ago and then stopped for very different reasons about 11 years ago. Eat good fish though and this year my turkey longing has well and truely faded away after having the girls. Agree wholeheartedly with all your comments, if you eat meat or not no problem. The girls have made sense of caring about farming practices for me! Bx
