Angie
I have been a bit naughty In fact very naughty. I have bought a piece of art work, a lovely quirky painting by Dale Bowen called Harbour Inn. I have been saving my pennies for a little while for something nice , and the gallery were selling a few pieces off at less than half price. I kept going back to look at it and found myself putting down a deposit last week , i collected it today. But........I haven't told OH.....he is on leave in a couple of weeks time. How do i explain this away ????? I can't say its been in the loft for ages or its been in one of the bedrooms and i've moved things around, and how do i explain having to add it to the insurance ? I'll have to tell him how much it is worth and how much i paid.....What would you tell your OH ???

Angie
Oh it is an investment, it won't lose money, i agree. And it is my money. And i will remind him that he isn't far from retirement from Forces and we can have these nice things now ,we won't be moving about anymore . But Oh he will witter on a bit , possibly because when i have a bit saved i usually spend it on him, but this time it is on me.....I deserve it ! Tweety
What is naughty about buying something that you have saved for? I wouldn't think twice about it - life is too short and I am a firm believer in getting on with it! Enjoy your investment
craftyhunnypie
Tell him it reminds you of him & the day you got married. Or something like that. Pull at his heart strings! ha ha Give him a glass of wine ( large), sit on the sofa ( together) & sound all artistic by talking about it & the artist etc etc. Just ask him out right when he walks in - " so what do you think "? He might just say it's gorgeous & then you don't really have to explain yourself! Forget it & enjoy! Life really is too short! I have just been looking at his other paintings and really like his style. I can't find an image of the one you have bought, but I can imagine its just as lovely. Enjoy it
