Neil Armstrong - RIP

Recommended Posts

Yes, Neil Armstrong has died. He had an incredible life so I don't feel overly despondent but he was one of those people that are slightly magical - for me anyway. There was something on Twitter which might be from his family that said something like the next time you look at the moon say hello. I think that's lovely although I have probably misquoted it. The sentiment is the same and I think I will say hello.

And if (like me!) you are old enough to have watched the moon landing, just hearing his name transports me back to my mum's friend's front room and about twenty people crowded round a very small black-and-white TV ... hard to appreciate for anyone used to digital TV and special effects, but a moment that I'll never forget. RIP Neil.

"Next time you walk outside on clear night & see moon smiling down at you, think of Neil & give him a wink."

Very sad news :( He was one of life's good guys :(

They've just played the whole of his family's statement which they gave to announce his death- I thought it was measured, and calm, and encouraged us all to do our bit in life. And then the last sentence was funny. A perfect remembrance.

RIP Neil Armstrong.

I was born the year man landed on the moon, and class that as an important part of my life, often reminding people that that was when I was born ( and Concorde's first flight too )

I'm sure he will have seen things from the moon that none of us could ever imagine.

Rest In Peace Neil.

I thought it was sad news. I remember the moon landing - I was hooked from then on.

Of course he was the one to boldly go where no man had gone before! I can only imagine the thrill that he had - even going into space let alone walking on the moon! I will be giving a wink most definitely.
